Targeted Individual (political persecution)

Targeted Individual (political persecution). A draft for our wikipedia page (version 20: Thu Apr 20 12:17:57 UTC 2017)

In the context of political repression, police harassment and non-consensual experimentation certain individuals and members of legally associating or ethnic groups may become targets of individualized harassment and repression, not for any criminal reason or because they may constitute any kind of "threat to society"[*], but because their general views or specific opinions are seen as undesirable to the reigning political status quo by the powers that be[*], policing agencies in their bid for total control[*] need to infiltrate, distablize an organization or because they are being used for non-consensual human experimentation[*] and training purposes[*] by states, armed forces, police, educational and research institutions[*][*][*] and/or government-sponsored agencies[*] such as socially organized gangs of people[*].

History and socio-political context of individualized targeting

Most social organizations have supervened on political hierarchies based on asymmetrical structures of control maintained by social codes and force, in which groups of people have been subjugated and persecuted. Even after the existence of wheeled carts the ruling classes were carried on other people’s shoulders as: “the ‘natural’, ‘proper’ societal structure”[*]. By such irrationally uncivic and inhumanely discriminatory practices a minority ruling class in collusion with militarisric and police forces control and abuse the majority of people, as part of which they target certain individuals.

Differences between targeted and social persecution

Even though to those not affected by such individualized types of abuses they look like the same, they do differ:

  • targeted persecution is always ad hominem: policing agencies psychologically profile and monitor the wants and motives of the individual to be targeted (currently, in our Über-surveillance times this is done to every member of society anyway) with the ultimate goal of destroying the person’s moral integrity and social fabric. As former perpetrator (the party abusing targeting victims, “perp” for short) and current activist author John Perkins have related to us, they personally customize the type and intensity of harassment and gaslighting to the point of making the impression to the individual targets that they are “reading their mind”, “own them” anyway[*]. When TIs share their experiences they can’t find a consensus as to what is and may be, and what isn’t and can’t possibly be.

Some TIs complain mostly about V2K (voice to skull) and/or DEW (Direct Energy Weapons), while other complain mostly about sleep deprivation.

Some TIs believe that the government is using very advanced classified high tech to do such things as “reading our minds remotely from satellites, ‘as they do with cell phones'”, while some other are certain they are just using military grade technology on civilians and corrupting commercial gadgets, doubling them for their “monitoring” with the aid and compliance of business and IT companies[*].

Some TIs get very anxious about gang stalking while other don’t care much about idiots apparently with nothing better to do in their lives following them around.

Some TIs believe they are being harassed because of their royal lineage, while other think it is because of their race.

Some TIs complain about the harassment directly messing with their children and family or their family members indirectly or directly becoming part of the harassment, while other only notice such incidents happenning to themselves.

Some TIs believe that is just the way for alphabet gangs used as front by the government to justify salaries and keep them in “a state of readiness”, while some other believe their local and state governments could’t possibly be involved in such irrational, inhumane, unmoral and illegal acts.

Some TIs may even be police officers, members of the military and/or their own perpetrators themselves (at least those can’t say they don’t know what is going on)[*][*].

  • even though what Rosa Parks effectively did was protesting inequality and segreation, technically, she was arrested and fined for refusing to give up her seat to a white person per local ordinance in a segregated city. That was a case of socially encoded and enforced injustice, not a targeting incident. Social persecution is usually performed through political, religious, race, class and/or ethnic codes against a group of people in more or less openly codified ways (even if inhumane, irrational and unjust; victims and perpetrators don’t wonder as to why certain things happen); while most TIs can’t put a finger onto why exactly certain things are happening to them. They are left to try to figure it all out by themselves as perpetrators ways to keep them mentally busy, psychologically mess with them, establish a presence in their lives.

Jewish and Moorish peoples were displaced, disowned and segregated by the Spanish Catholic Royalty; terrorists groups targeted Egypt’s Christian coptic minority[*]; incarcerated people have been repeatedly used for medical experimentation in the U.S. (which is and has always been illegal, yet, nothing has ever happened to the perpetrators and benefitting parties)[*]; the Spartans enslaved the Messenians to farm all the land for them and so-called "untouchables" in India are subject to crass discriminatory practices codified in their caste beliefs. "Untouchables" were the ones shipped to fight during WWII as a favor to their British masters[*][*][*]

In the case of targeting particular individuals, those persons’ biographies, "psychological profiles", occupation, intellectual objectives, medical records (how is it exactly your medical records relate to your civic and moral views?)[*], moral views and social and family relationships are well-known by the perpetrators. They are singled out and relentlesslysubjected to social isolation and discrediting, moral denigration, psychological pressure, conscious dissonance, emotional attrition, covert and/or overt torture and possibly death: Galileo Galilei and Giordano Bruno were targeted by the Inquisition. As it happened with early Christians during the late periods of the Roman Empire and happens with Muslim people and the "black lives matter" movement nowadays in the U.S., certain people or organizations can be persecuted at large and some of their members be targeted in depth. Students and teachers, who have found their pictures, names and the private details of their lives exposed publicly on the "canary mission" site for “promoting hatred of the USA, Israel and Jews on college campuses”, wondered how could the Israeli government gained so much information about their private lives.

  • other defining aspects of targeted harassment to individuals, clearly proving government involvement and coordination are the degree of articulation and scope of the incidents: if, say, you sign a petition or participate in a demonstration, your stress level will decrease once you head home, go back to your day to day life; whereas TIs would relentlessly receive strange calls (office background noises or an undiscernable voice talking about undiscernable themes), cryptic confusing email messages and their communications attempts to other people will be corrupted. TI will get as hits of their online searches links to denigrating sites, strangely personalized TV broadcastings making fun of them (so, that when they relate such incidents, doctors write them off as “crazies”, even though, technically speaking, perps can easily hack “smart” TVs). TIs find signs pasted on their home’s front door or their car’s windshield, their car parked in some other place, the light in their homes on, their belonging dinged, their homes infected with bed bugs and people dressed framing messages about certain personally harassing topics way more often and presented to them in such ways that such incidents could not possibly be thought of as random. That kind of gaslighting accompanies TIs wherever he/she goes, even when traveling overseas for long stays or short touristic visits. Spanish social activist, Rocío Monasterio, reports being harassed, threatened, her freedom of speech rights being denied and receiving repeated death threats in various instances by various individuals and organized groups due to her legal and constitutional openly maintained political views[*][*][*][*], but hers, even if clearly a case of abuse and persecution involving even the Jurisprudence Department of one of the highest educational institution of a European Union country as perpetrators, lacks the vertical depth into her private life, the articulation, scope and relentless character typical of targeted cases. Law-abiding German citizen, Cambridge University particle physicist graduate Dr. Katherine Horton with no link whatsoever to any terrorist organization or any such things, currently fighting her case in court against British and European policing agencies through the British justice system, has being relentlessly harassed and tortured in Britain, Switzerland and Germany[*][*][*].
  • Some TIs have likened power and control in abusive relationships to the kinds of abuses they are being subjected to. Yet, “relationships” presupose some sort of tacit mutual understanding and conscious participations of the involved parties. With the exception of extreme cases of crass abuses such as when a girl is raped by an older man and per Qu’ranic law “he must marry her”[], even if girls entraped in such archaich ~understandings~ still commite suicide in our times[], from a social point of view, it is very clear to their families and society at large that those known abusive laws and regulations must be changed; individuals who accept on their own accoud an abusive relationships, consciously know they can stop it if/whenever they would choose to do so, and given the intersubjectivity that any kind of relationship entails, even the person being permanently or alternatingly abused (based on his/her own understanding of reality) does gain something out of it. You have nothing to “gain” out being targeted and you can’t brake lose from it even if you choose to “cooperate”. Once a TI, always a TI! Yet, some TIs do accept such conscious demands to being a perp or a happily unincumbered individual.

In both, social persecution and targeted cases, perps see themselves as "rightly patriotic", "on the right side of history", doing "the greater good", "democratically chosen to carry such mandates", "obviously, intellectually superior", "on a moral high ground", "chosen by ‘God’", take their actions as "the ‘white’ man burden" … and tend to produce self-serving philosophies to justify their actions at times dressing them in pseudo-, junk science such as "Craniology" and gross misinterpretations of scientific facts such as deducing a basis for genocidal racism and the breeding of a "superior race" from Darwinian biological theories about evolution, as well as oppressive, discriminatory "laws" and "regulations", which, as is the case of the U.S. government nowadays, may be covered by layers of secrecy, classification and redacting obfuscation. The Catholic Church considered that natives in the New Continent didn’t have a legal right to the lands they inhabited because "they didn’t have the proper legal papers";[*][*]; during the dictatorship Brazil endured for two decades, times from which CIA "operative manuals" are still being found[*], torturers openly boasted about "torturing all Brazilians to find out who were the true patriots"; CIA/"School of the America’s" trained Guatemalan Ríos Mont[*][*] considering indigenous groups to be "’potential’ left-wing sympathizers" targeted them as a group for their enslavement and genocide; the Israeli government has basically declared Palestinian territories their "Lebensraum" and Palestinian people their subjects based on "religious interpretations" and with the political backing and financial support of the U.S. government using tax payers monies.[*]

Uses and Abuses of Technology

Various forms of engineering and societal technologies have served as media and instruments of societal cohesion and development throughout history, from the invention of writing to the initial adoption of the social institution of the census primarily for taxing purposes, to then repurposing its utility for control and repression by the Romans. Initially business and politicians wondered what telephones would be good for[*] to becoming an indispensable medium for communications today. Technological changes tend to not only establish complex dynamic interrelationships among themselves (the telephone phased out the telegraph, the Internet redefined what phones are useful for), but also tend to stagnate and become impedance and obstructing devices to their very own initial utility, “rason de etre”. Medieval Italian merchants wedge themselves as a social class within the status quo of the clergy and the royalty by advertising their goodwill through openness and honesty. They would share their double entry books with other merchants they would never meet from remote places [*] (compare that with business practices nowadays!) and even a culture sporting most refined rationality such as Mathematics would only relinquish institutinal control for a new, eminently useful technology to a devastating fire that destroyed their tally system based on sticks along with the building where they were house[*]. Technologies also have repercussions since they become part and media of social, cultural and individual consciousness.

The social repercussion of the Roman census has been documented in the Bible[*], 11th-century Chinese alchemists invented it but it was Westerners the ones to whom gunpowder‘s most common use occurred and when Kant wrote his memorable critique of armamentism and wars, it was in times in which wars were local, more simmetrical and immediately very costly endevoirs, not in times in which “soldiers” could “patriotically” kill hundreds of unsuspecting people from an air-conditioned room in the other side of the world as if they are playing computer games; yet, the ethical aspects of his critique is as valid as ever.

The Catholic Church had no FISA courts, nor did they have such things as “secret interpretations of laws”. During their abusive reing for over ten centuries, they have been open and explicit (even carnavalesque) about their ways of social control and repression. They instituted and made mandatory
the Sacrament of Penance since they didn’t have
IT companies doing their dirty surveillance work for them (twitter and the archive.org have been the only U.S. based companies who have opposed willingly colaborating illegal activities of USG) and had the spine and mind power to heed their Index Librorum Prohibitorum to the chapter and paragraph agaisnt which authors had the opportunity to defend their writings, while many U.S. high ranking politicians publicly admitted that they didn’t even know what "N-S-A" stood for.

The ubiquitous adoption of current communicating technologies has made possible the ongoing interception, recording, correlation and storing of vast amounts of diverse personal data and metadata in searchable, queryable and contextually Zeitgeistable repositories: from all telephone calls you have ever made[*], to the centimetric record of your whereabouts and people you have crossed your way with even if you don’t and will never know them[*], the people you associate with off- and online[*], books you have read and music you have listened to[*][*], your shopping and eating habits[*], your financial standing and all your financial transactions[*], all your medical records (including detail records of visits to medical doctor and therapists/psychologists)[*][*], your DNA[*], your facial expressions[*], your heartbeat[*] … whatever physically tangible form of expression![*] Initially business started collecting and sharing all that information about "their users" for commercial purposes. It was later, after that "proof of concept", that the NSA was possessed by their "sniff it all, collect it all, know it all, process it all, exploit it all, …" incantation.[*]

George Orwell in his 1949 dystopian novel "1984" describes "telescreens" as devices invasively placed by governments in people’s own private living spaces to individually monitor their lives, describing the self-censoring, chilling effect of such devices:

"There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. You have to live — did live, from habit that became instinct — in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized". [*]

The 4th Amendment of the U.S. constitution (introduced in the U.S. in Congress in 1789), from a civic point of view, basic social contract precepts, postulates that:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,[*] against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."[*]

What neither "The Founding Fathers", nor George Orwell could possibly foresee was a future in which technology would render totally meaningless the very notion of privacy when it comes to "people’s ‘houses’, ‘papers’ and ‘effects’". Policing government agencies have been corrupting and repurposing commercial technologies[*][*] and using military-grade devices to easily see through walls without any awareness of the people inside[*], monitor people’s movements and beam electromagnetic lobes on specific part of their bodies while inside their own homes even while in pitch dark rooms[*], so-called "no-touch" torture[*]. Handwritten and printed paper ceased to be the primary medium from which information is read more than a generation ago . People are willing to pay more than 10 times as much money for an easily traceable, hackable electronic version of their books. Nor could they envision that people would all be happily and willingly paying for their own two-way "telescreens" through which they would be tacitly relinquishing all illusions about their own privacy, nor that people would abysmally, whole heartedly embrace the so-called Internet of Things[*] and that electromagnetic storage space would become so cheap that it doesn’t make sense to delete any kind of data about all citizens of a nation anymore[*]. Those kinds of technologies are so cheap that they are being payed for and sold like any other commercial gadgets[*].

Galvani’s discovery of the electrical reactivity of the legs of deafferented frogs and CIA José Delgado’s bull experiments[*] culminating with his very misleading and offensively dehumanizing titled book[*] have been interpreted by our highly suggestive minds as implying that our minds can be remotely steered. Some apparently well-informed and technically savvy individuals such as author Dr. Robet Duncan suggest that to be possible[*][*][*]. Policing agencies seem to exploit and spread such bleliefs[*][*], some people’s erroneously have about them being able to "read, write/transfer into thoughts and feelings, monitor their minds", which is factually impossible due the fact that the close-range, very low powered reactions in the synaptic clefts of our nervous system are eletro-chemical in nature, not encoded in any way.[*][*][*] Nonetheless, as part of their abusive mind control games, after depriving their victims of all forms of privacy, perpetrators are able to psychologically warp individuals to an extent that at times some of them have whole heartedly believed that their minds have been hijacked. Some of those individuals in desperation after years of relentless abuse have committed suicide[*] and/or gone into homicidal rampages.[*][*]

Panopticism

Argus Panoptes (Panoptes: "the all-seeing") is a many-eyed giant serving as "big brother" sort of watchman in Greek mythology by whom we are always "watched", "followed", "trailed" in a relentlessly scrutinizing way to an invasive, distressing degree. Similar allusions to all-seeing, omnipresent social control devices can be found in moralizing, religious texts[*][*] serving the controlling purpose of the power that be in other cultures even in architectural allegories; as people have also wondered themselves about "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"(who watches the watchers). [*]

As a way to economize on “watchers” in prisons/society at large and make inmates/people ultimately watch and control themselves, Jeremy Bentham conceptualized the architectural design of a type of prison exploiting perspective in such ways that all inmates could be seen at all times from a few points, the Panopticon. Yet, in the global police state in which we live nowadays it is not just about architectural visions and technology. The morally detrimental effect of such "Über-surveillance" by the 5 eyes, other European acolytes and Israel, as well as each nation’s policing agencies, causes not only distrust and fear among individuals towards their government, but also lack of trust all the way to the very presiding individuals among supposedly allied governments, putting themselves and each other not only in uncomfortable political positions[*][*][*], but have affected the credibility of governments themselves. Dianne Feinstein, the very Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee admitted to not having a clue about technical matters, let alone NSA’s capabilities[*] and New Zealand’s Prime Minister, ~*~, manifestly showing the spineless stooges politicians are, retracted his vow to resign “if mass surveillance proved to be true”[*]. State dignitaries who had done nothing whatsoever to protect their own jurisdictional constituencies from foreign invasions to their privacy, had then, hypocritically indeed, gone berserk when they learned that their own communications were being monitored, as well. Hillary Clinton ridiculed herself undermining her political efforts, when, after realizing that she couldn’t even trust her own so-called "intelligence" agencies and media, used a private email servers which was apparently hacked and then she made groundless accusation against "Russian hackers", "Vladimir Putin". President Trump’s accusations about surveillance excesses of President’s Obama’s administration turned out to be true[*]. German chancellor Angela Merkel called the USG "the stasi of the world"[*] and impeached Brazilian president, Dilma Rousseff, resolutely denounced "the stasi of the world" on a UN speech[*] when she learned they had been monitoring Petrobras, a company from which she was treasurer.[Rousseff was impeached from office by government officials who came to their masters for direct instructions][who have since been involved themselves in larger scandals relating to fraud, excessive and abuses of power]

Nowadays, altering the architecture and lay out of cities is not necessary since people carry their own "smart" phones and cheap and sophisticated street cameras enabling the identification of passers by on every corner of public and private spaces covering whole cities have been all linked and are being monitored from fusion centers. However, the actual effectiveness and net gain of such "Über-surveillance" as a seemingly an almost costless, technically kosher way to control society at large has been questioned by security experts, social justice activists and consciousness studies scholars[*][*][*].
outside and inside view of a model of the Panopticon built in the Isle of Pines (Cuba) in the 1920's which housed German and Japanese prisoners of war during WWII
Jeremy Bentham’s Panopticon was actually implemented to its very specifications in the late 1920s, "El Presidio Modelo" (The Model Prison), in The Isles of Pines in Cuba, a U.S. neighboring country always considered part of their "immediate spheres of influence" as part of the Monroe doctrine. However, after unsuccessfully trying to fight corruption, political violence and U.S. tacit occupation from a legal point of view, after Cubans had fought off Spanish rule and the on the radio suicide of his political idol (even though a revolutionary writer chronicling his 105-day experience[*]
didn’t find absolutely anything worth “modelling” in such a prison[*]), notorious inmate Fidel Castro, who was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the person holding the longest UN speech (surely not saying anything nice about USG), who saw a total of 11 U.S. presidents come and go during his dictatorial rule and who survived 634 assassination attempts mainly masterminded by the CIA [*]; actually considered it "la prisión fecunda" ("the fruitful prison") where he had his two-year sabbatical to ponder about his revolutionary strategies to then; initially, with widespread popular support, topple U.S. trained and backed bloody dictator Fulgencio Batista. Ethnologs studying the consciousness of ravens have been frustrated by the fact that ravens were able to figure out the experiments, not playing "their roles" prior to the "logical conclusions" they wanted to arrive at, which put into question who was experimenting with whom[*]. Nonetheless policing agencies use targeted individuals (“TI” for short) as part of their controlling persecution and social experimentation in their attempt to ultimately achieve total control of society at large.

MKUltra++ and COINTELPRO++

Despite the findings and rulings of the Church Committee social control programs such as MKUltra and COINTELPRO were never defunded or institutionally phased out. They just morphed into our current ubiquitous and pervasive technological dependence, enabling todays Über-surveillance
[*][*], which make dystopia and movies from a earlier eras such as “1984” and The Front, feel silly, nostalgic, even idyllic. In addition to us having way more sophisticated “telescreens” in our living spaces, gone are the days people had to be interned, institutionalized in places such as the notorious Allan Memorial Institute in order to conduct and monitor non-consensual experiments with them and to torture them in sort of a Pavlovian conditioning way. The stasi complained that with their kinds of technology they could only monitor 14 telephones at any given time, while currently the world at large is being monitored[*].

Constant all encompassing surveillance is not “just ‘surveillance'” the mere act of surveilling whole societies is wrong on many counts “regardless of how they use that information”. It unavoidably is the most importat step for any form of government to develop into a police state. As a matter of course, governments get “smart” about all that data. During their persecution by Nazis, Jewish people had a harsher time the more detailed were the records that have been kept about them. After Nazis invaded Hungary (just a few SS troops) a massive campaign of exappropriations of businesses, stealing and persecution started against them. It was actually Hungarian citizens they ones who had kept the thorough records that made possible and encourage such planned actions. Sarah Bland, a citizen of ~Maryland~ where that is not a traffic infraction, was stopped and detained for doing something she may have done unconsciously. She ended up “suicieding” herself in a police custody for a traffic violation which shouldn’t have ever ended as a detention in a police station.

As part of the ongoing Church Committee investigations in 1977 in relation to Project MKUltra a misplaced stash of documents was found that survived the 1973 internal destruction orders from which more was learned than from the Inspector General’s 1963 report. On the Senate floor in 1977, Senator Ted Kennedy said:

The Deputy Director of the CIA revealed that over thirty universities and institutions were involved in an “extensive testing and experimentation” program which included covert drug tests on unwitting citizens “at all social levels, high and low, native Americans and foreign.” Several of these tests involved the administration of LSD to “unwitting subjects in social situations.”

Yes, those “aware” hippie characters in the U.S. of the 1960s and 1970s were hoodwinked into LSD addiction by the government and not a single one of those universities and research centers, among them “prestigious” McGill University, has come clear about it as a symbolic statement to morality.

Psychologists and psychiatrists who found the raise of Nazism as their God’s gift, were so out of hand, that their Führer himself signed a decree outlawing non consensual, not-informed experimentations with human beings[*]. They never stopped. The German government has formally declared human non-consensual experimentation illegal under all circumstances[*]. However those laws and regulations are not enforced in Germany, nor does the powerful German government care to defend its own citizens against such abuses[*].

Following the recommendations of the Church Committee, President Gerald Ford in 1976 issued the first executive order that explicitly prohibited the “experimentation with drugs on human subjects, except with the informed consent, in writing and witnessed by a disinterested party, of each such human subject” and in accordance with the guidelines issued by the National Commission[*]. Subsequent orders by Presidents Carter and Reagan expanded the directive to apply to any human experimentation. The political development to outlaw and close loopholes relating to such crass abuses to human integrity was reverted by Executive Order 13139, aka: “the Clinton Memo”.

Even though the all encompassing surveillance has been global for a long time already and policing agencies have been learning from each other and basically use and abuse the same kinds of time-tested techniques such as intimidation, gaslighting, framing people to put them in prison, using perps as fronts, as well as character and biological assassination and making people’s life miserable to the point that they commit suicide, people that have had a taste of the hospitality of various such agencies report at times contradictory findings.
Shin Bet motto is “We are defenders who shall not be seen” (Hebrew: מגן ולא יראה‎‎), however, they posed and bragged their heads off on a documentary in which they even strongly critize their own government[*]. German Citizens, during their supposedly monolithic Nazi times, organized and carried ~*~ assassination attempts against their Führer, even most German Max Planck lost a son to such endevoirs.[*][*] The East German stasi liked its presence to be manifestly felt, but hid their operatives and operations; and, ruthless as they were, they relinquished their power in a moment of doubt in a peaceful way and have integreated mainstream society in seamless ways. The Cuban “seguridad del estado”, both, underpinning an all encompassing overt (yet not bloody) dictatorship and stalwarting constant direct ingerencias and indirect scheming by the neighboring “world’s only superpower” for over 12 U.S. presidents doesn’t care at all about hiding their tracks and publicly advertise their preposterous penal code and internal regulations. They even summone their targets to discuss with them face-to-face, “make more participatory” their repression plans. However they are trained not to abuse people physically and do incarcerate even regular prisons police who don’t follow regulations.[*] The Chinese abduct book shop owners as dissidents.[*] MI5 ~killed~ a reporter who had brought the news about the ~*~ scandal, after the whole world knew about it.[*] The Brazilian court doesn’t seem to care about “jogo bello”, yet their police don’t seem to care about either about “jogo bello” or the “Brazilian court”.[*][*].
Not only does “‘the’ land of ‘the’ ‘free’ …” hold the record for the largest incarceration rate in the world, but local police (NYPD who call themselves “‘the’ finest”) start a target practice with an individual acting erratically, who they knew was on drugs, shooting to his groing ~*~ times until they killed him in most populous times square and as if it were not enough the local media supported that unnecessarily brutal excess of force with sadistic reports.[*][*]
The KGB doesn’t seem to be fun of local reporters[*] so they choose to have the world at large report about it. ~*~.
During “School of the Americas” trained Anastasio Somoza’s dictatorship in Nicaragua, their ruthless paramilitary police killed
ABC News darling journalist Bill Stewart point blanck and (unsuspectingly to them) on camera, as well as his Nicaraguan interpreter because as their CIA manuals trained the National Guard to think and say and even their own local newspapers were reinforcing a day before “foreign journalists are part of the vast network of communist propaganda”[*]. However, when those tapes reached mainstream media and millions of viewers in the United States and worldwide had a visual taste of what “their dogs”[*] had been doing and their politicians had been supporting all along, they reacted with shock and outrage and President Jimmy Carter issued a statement describing the murder as “an act of barbarism that all civilized people condemn.”[*]

Methods

  • gaslighting: is a form of manipulation that seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or members of a group, hoping to make targets question their own memory, perception, and sanity
  • gang stalking: gang stalkers are groups of people who coordinate through "fusion centers" their stalking and harassment of TIs for which they get monetary remuneration and perks such as shopping cards. However, as part of some questionable reverse of logic let alone civic, moral stance, they must sign "confidentiality agreements" disassociating their actions from U.S. agencies and making themselves directly liable for "braking the law"[*]

USG is one of the largest employer of psychology graduates.[] APA after meetings in Canada[*], broke ranks with the CIA promising to revoke the professional license of psychology graduates aiding the government in the illegal and inhumane torture and harassment of other human beings, some of them even boasting about their actions[*]. Today not a single case is known of a single psychologist exposed and whose license has been revoked. Well researched and documented reports on human experimentation by the stasi show the long lasting irreversible somatic and mental imbalances and diseases they cause to their victims.

As in the case of the Rosenhan experiments in which inmates were able to easily tell apart the fake impostors posing as mentally ill people (yet, institutionalized psychologists, who were repeatedly dupped, couldn’t!)[]; truly professional psychologists are able to tell apart mentally disturbed individuals expressing "persecutory delusions" from otherwise regular individuals reporting being stalked, followed, harassed and hearing voices.[*][*][*]

The Ws of individual targeting

  • Who becomes a target?: There is no single, sure-shot discerning rule as to whom will perpetrators likely choose as target. As Ted Kennedy pointed out: their “extensive testing and experimentation programs” “include covert drug tests on unwitting citizens [of all kinds and social strata]”; probably, for “scientific reasons” they may say:
    • some TIs believe they are being used for medical experimentation due to their blood type or for some other medical condition
    • some TIs are morally motivated towards their activism for socially progressive causes, while some other may be seen as reactionary and morally backward as they could possibly be and some other couldn’t care less about politics one way or the other
    • as the MK-Ultra hearings showed they do tend to target more women and girls for experimentation and as victims for their training, aspies tend to be overrepresented as well
    • they apparently target representative quotas of their demographics
    • they tend to target individuals whom they can easily isolate, attempt to “own”, engage interpersonally
    • most TIs who have no clue as to why they are being followed and harassed, who have confronted such individuals relate that perps react confused as if they were the ones actually being unjustly harassed, because: “they are not doing anything wrong or illegal to you”. Some of the perps being used and remunerated for their actions might even believe to be doing the “patriotic duty” of being part of the “total awareness” program against “terrorists”, that you should have your “‘patriotic duty’ also to play your role in it”. They apparently see themselves as minor, innocuous perps who are “just checking on you”. They would get upset if you take a picture of them, apparently without being able to understand that they, as willing participants of a larger snitching network, had received a picture of yours on their cell phone. In the documentary, “The Gatekeepers“, with the heads of Shin Bet, they related how at times they detained people who have no idea whatsoever as to why they are being tortured, because, unbeknown to them, after hunting them down as if they were animals, Shin Bet chose them to work them as potential snitches to target certain other people. Some of the individuals targeted have died in custody in their torture dungeons without a clue as to why they were detained to begin with.
  • How do I get out of such lists?: You can’t. Those are one-way lists. Even after you die they keep you in those lists as a correlating entry to possibly target other people relating to you. If, say, you hire a lawyer, all they do is case those developments. Lawyers, doctors and even politicians, who do know about such things try hard to stay away from TI-related issues.
  • What does actually happen to you?: It depends on what perpetrators (among them psychology graduates[]) consider to be your “psychological profile” and how they customize their harassment towards you. You will definitely notice peculiar things happening to you which do interfere with the course of your personal life. TI social justice activist Bruno Marchesani, who “had a stroke” at 53, related to us the story of a TI that was totally blind and decided to study psychology in order to help other TIs. Perpetrators zapped her fingers so she couldn’t read after which she related in meetings with her TI support group that she did feel suicidal. The perpetrators never stopped harassing her. She did commit suicide[*][*].
  • Why would anyone do such things to other people?: Socially speaking, peoples have the self-righteous tendency to see themselves collectively as well-minded individuals “obviously guided by ‘God'” to do good, while they see other “different” people as obviously wrong, not just in their own ways. Personally, as widely repeated and cased social experiments and all kinds of pranks clearly show, most people (approximately (2/3) of the general population), even those you would consider to be harmless and most of those that consider themselves to be morally grounded individuals, would do anything to another person on command by some barely seemingly “authorative figure”[*][*][*][*]. Those conscioussness studies show no correlation whatsoever with class, political persuation, intellectual prowes, financial standing, race, genetics or gender. It seems to be something you individually have going inside of you or not. The relationship between perpetrator and victim in those experiments was merely situational. Those experiments haven’t studied, in addition to presenting an “authorative figure” giving “the orders to be followed”, the effect that suggesting the victims as being Arabic or Spanish speakers, illegal immigrants and/or remunerating perpetrators. Just by noticing the kinds of games that children and adults get addictive to such as ~*~ and Pokemon-Go you could understand how easily people would find stalking and harassing other people as something “fun”. After participants are explained that they were the actual subjects of experimentation and asked why they would do such a thing to another individual and told about the golden rule, most of them tend they tend to easily downplay and/or rationalize their actions.[] Most people who either have been victims of and/or know first hand about such abuses cannot rationalize any of it and do oppose harassing other people.
  • Why don’t more people know about this?: There is concerted interest by the status quo to play down such matters, which is evidenced by the amount of effort they put into denying it and protraying TIs as crazies[]. Also, people generally have and guard their moral blind spots. Even if one makes the effort to explain such matters and they could find out by themselves if they are true or not, people who are not being targeted themselves would not accept such ideas, because “they would rock their consciouss boat”. Governmental and religious institutions and the media of European countries pretended they didn’t know about it and disbelieved, made even fun of Jewish people when they were trying to alert the general public about extermination camps in Nazi Germany.
  • When/Where does it happen?: It depends on how do you conduct your life and the harassing techniques perpetrators are training on you. If they are torturing you aurally, via V2K, it would happen when and where they could aim such devices at you. If they are sleep depriving you, it will then happen when you go to bed. If, say, your are an activist trying to visit a place, you may find virtually impossible to book a flight or while you are in the middle of an important, time-sensitive meeting for which you prepared a powerpoint presentation, devices repeatedly missfunction in awkward ways or crash without apparent rhyme or reason, so, your supervisors start wondering “what is wrong with you” …
  • How does it happen?: You will invariably notice that there must be some well-coordinated agencies behind those “happenings” because of their recurrence and their articulation: “why is it that I constantly find that person staring at me when I am arriving at work?, unknown people following me around, all too visibly acting as if they were updating my location on their cell phones?”, “lights in my apartment on, again? I positively switched them off as I left!”, “… and now I find my apartment door unlocked, too?”, “why are things again misplaced in my apartment?”, “why are all those baseless rumors being aired about me at work?” … If those incidents were random, they would be affecting most people in a very disfunctional society in which business could not possibly prosper. System theoretic studies have shown that just by messing with approximately 15% of a functioning entity you can severely mess with it,
bring it to a halt, destroy it[*].

  • How do I defend myself against their harassment?: You should always try to minimize the effect of the techniques perpetrators use by:
    • acting in open ways in order to expose them. If they try to poke you personally in a private way, take that document and openly ask the question in public, widely accessible fora in a naive way specifying in detail the techniques they used and call back the companies they are pretending to belong to. This is also important, because, as it happened in the pre Church Committee COINTELPRO, perpetrators are “developing their own skills” and “taking their ‘careers’ ‘seriously'”, so at times they get “creative”, “imaginative” and do certain things they know to be illegal which their supervisors may not agree with.
    • never accepting any kind of interpersonal engagement with them either though words or innuendo, such as reacting to what they do (even if that V2K may say things you would very much like to respond to). They tend to engage people as if they were already having a conversation with you. You should totally ignore them or demand that they put whatever they are saying in writing, “so, that you can discuss this with your lawyer”. If they get too much on your face or in your way, you should publicly and loudly go “Excuse me! Who are you, [Sir|Ma’am]? Get out of my way!”.
If you are stuck with them in a situation in which you can’t ignore tham, act stupid like you can’t understand them, like you don’t understand hierarchies, like you can’t keep secrets.

    • connecting with other TIs (yes, they have their snitches and disinformation brigades in support groups, too, but discerning the truths of matter, the fakes from the true isn’t that hard)
    • keeping detailed records, preferably of handwritten notes on paper (any kind of electronic data anyone can easily mess with), of what they do to you with the license plates of the cars, location where and time that the harassment happens including videos and pictures you can easily take with your cell phone (use apps to record the exact location, timestamp and direction of the camera); save and make your complaints cumulatively. A TI related a story in which after being stopped and harassed by the highway patrol for no reason whatsoever and keeping a long and extensive record of what was going on, once he simply called 911 and reported (as he recorded the call on his own phone): “certain individuals at the intersection so and so dressed as police, porting guns and driving what seems to be a police car (reading off the license plate over the phone), who have been harassing him for months for no apparent reason whatsoever”. Those police officers very upset asked him: “Why ‘he’ had done that?” He made sure to get and keep a transcript of the report. They stopped messing with him/his family. They never know where their faces and actions many resurface again. Dr. Katherine Horton related to us a story about a TI who was just an animal rights activist, who was framed using a “Romeo”, she seems to have fallen in love with and a baby was born, after which he just disappeared without rhyme or reason and without leaving a trace. After many years the single mother, still wondering what had happened, learned of google face recognition and used it to find him still working as a perp in Australia.[*]
    • when you write a complaint letter always include the enablers; say, if you live in the U.S. and are complaining to the Postal Service about the carriers leaving your mail (and only yours!) by the superintendent of your building whom you have told many times to stop collecting your mail (they are forced to serve as perpetrators by their managers and landlords “following orders from above”) cc the local police, fusion center and ACLU
    • connecting with and support in any way you can “(WE) custodiet ipsos custodes” types agencies such as ~*~ in NYC.
    • taking simple measures such as keeping your cell phone in a Faraday cage when you aren’t using it, not accepting drinks or food being handed to you in restaurants and bars, drinking always running water and walking on the side walk against car traffic will always help
    • learn basic computer skills, how to run utilities on the command prompt. Save your own data to external devices while disconnected to the Internet (physically unplug the cable). If you can, use an old computer to access the Internet and another one, which you never connect to the Internet for your own work. Linus Torvalds, well-known for his lack of political correctness, has told that he effing never connects his own work computer to the Internet.
    • not allowing for their harassment to totally frame, derail your life, make you do things you are not comfortable with (which could make some of the previous suggestions less valid)

William Buckley, the American murdered in Beirut in 1985 after his kidnap and torture by Arab extremists, was identified in the U.S. media as a “political attache” or “journalist.” Basing his extraordinary investigative coup on interviews with scores of intelligence sources, including late CIA director William Casey, Thomas identifies Buckley as the CIA station chief in Beirut, an operative whose past operations included the surveillance of Egyptian president Anwar Sadat. The author ( Voyage of the Damned ; Pontiff ) pulls back the curtain over the CIA’s use of medical torture and other government operations around the world, from Angola to Israel. He describes how Buckley was injected with drugs, physically abused and mentally befuddled by mind-control expert Aziz al-Abub. This Arab doctor was but one of many disciples of Ewen Cameron, a respected Montreal psychiatrist at McGill University enlisted by CIA director Allen Dulles in the 1950s to devise techniques to scramble victims’ minds irreversibly. In a well-documented dossier that reads like a thriller, Thomas spills details of various operations, among them the CIA’s alleged bugging of the Vatican and the Pope. • Propaganda Paperback – September 1, 2004
by Edward Bernays (Author), Mark Crispin Miller (Introduction)

“Bernays’ honest and practical manual provides much insight into some of the most powerful and influential institutions of contemporary industrial state capitalist democracies.”—Noam Chomsky

“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.”—Edward Bernays, Propaganda

A seminal and controversial figure in the history of political thought and public relations, Edward Bernays (1891–1995), pioneered the scientific technique of shaping and manipulating public opinion, which he famously dubbed “engineering of consent.” During World War I, he was an integral part of the U.S. Committee on Public Information (CPI), a powerful propaganda apparatus that was mobilized to package, advertise and sell the war to the American people as one that would “Make the World Safe for Democracy.” The CPI would become the blueprint in which marketing strategies for future wars would be based upon.

Bernays applied the techniques he had learned in the CPI and, incorporating some of the ideas of Walter Lipmann, became an outspoken proponent of propaganda as a tool for democratic and corporate manipulation of the population. His 1928 bombshell Propaganda lays out his eerily prescient vision for using propaganda to regiment the collective mind in a variety of areas, including government, politics, art, science and education. To read this book today is to frightfully comprehend what our contemporary institutions of government and business have become in regards to organized manipulation of the masses.

This is the first reprint of Propaganda in over 30 years and features an introduction by Mark Crispin Miller, author of The Bush Dyslexicon: Observations on a National Disorder.

  • The Rape of the Mind: The Psychology of Thought Control, Menticide, and Brainwashing Paperback – February 25, 2015
by Joost A. M. Meerloo (Author)

2015 Reprint of 1961 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition. Not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. In 1933 Meerloo began to study the methods by which systematic mental pressure brings people to abject submission, and by which totalitarians imprint their subjective “truth” on their victims’ minds. In “The Rape of the Mind” he goes far beyond the direct military implications of mental torture to describing how our own culture unobtrusively shows symptoms of pressurizing people’s minds. He presents a systematic analysis of the methods of brainwashing and mental torture and coercion, and shows how totalitarian strategy, with its use of mass psychology, leads to systematized “rape of the mind.” He describes the new age of cold war with its mental terror, verbocracy, and semantic fog, the use of fear as a tool of mass submission and the problem of treason and loyalty, so loaded with dangerous confusion. The “Rape of the Mind” is written for the interested layman, not only for experts and scientists. Contents: Part One: The Techniques of Individual Submission. 1. You Too Would Confess. 2. Pavlov’s Students as Circus Tamers. 3. Medication into Submission. 4. Why Do They Yield? The Psychodynamics of False Confession. Part Two: The Techniques of Mass Submission. 5. The Cold War against the Mind. 6. Totalitaria and its Dictatorship. 7. The Intrusion by Totalitarian Thinking. 8. Trial by Trial. 9. Fear as a Tool of Terror. Part Three: Unobtrusive Coercion. 10. The Child is Father to the Man. 11. Mental Contagion and Mass Delusion. 12. Technology Invades Our Minds. 13. Intrusion by the Administrative Mind. 14. The Turncoat in Each of Us. Well-known targeted Individuals

  • Marting Luther King Jr.‘s telephone was tapped by the FBI, under written directive from Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. Even though no evidence of “communist infiltration” or any other wrong doing emerged, the FBI used the incidental details about his private life and associations over the next five years in attempts to force King out of his leadership position. King was eventually assassinated[].
  • Andrei Sakharov (Андре́й Са́харов) started receiving more attention from the

    KGB

for openly protesting the nomination to the USSR Academy of Sciences of a Stalin supporter implicated in “the defamation, firing, arrest, even death, of many genuine scientists”. In 1967, when anti-ballistic missile defense became a key issue in US–Soviet relations, he wrote a detailed letter to the Soviet leadership advacing to them to “take the Americans at their word” and avoid an arms race. He also asked to let him innitiate a public discussion about the dangers of such developments. The government ignored him. Next year, after his essay: “Reflections on Progress, Peaceful Coexistence, and Intellectual Freedom”, circulated in the Soviet Union and internationally. He was banned from conducting any military-related research and was widely recognized as an open dissident, who stood vigil outside of closed courtrooms, wrote appeals on behalf of more than two hundred individual prisoners, and continued to write public essays about the need for democratization.

  • Bobby Fischer‘s single mother’s political activism, her fluenty speaking 8 languages, previous life in Moscow and communist sympathies caught the attention of the FBI. Out of her 750-page file they couldn’t get any hard evidence or (in those times) even determine who Bobby’s father was. Yet, J. Edgar Hoover suspected the teenage US champion’s mother was a Soviet agent and that the KGB was trying to recruit him. Hoover eventually admitted that he was wrong on both counts, but not before he made misserable his mother’s and the chess prodigy’s life to the point of turning Bobby into a world pariah after his self-imposed exile from the U.S.
A “Committee to Free Bobby Fischer” was set up at Narita Airport. Previos opponent Boris Spassky wrote a letter to U.S. President George W. Bush, asking “For mercy, charity”, and, if that was not possible, “to put [him] in the same cell with Bobby Fischer” and “to give [them] a chess set”.

Fischer and Miyoko Watai, then President of the Japanese Chess Association (with whom he had reportedly been living since 2000) wanted to become legally married, so he could stay in Japan. He also try to apply for German citizenship on the grounds that his father was German. Fischer publicly stated that he wanted to renounce his U.S. citizenship, and appealed to U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell to help him do so to no effect.
Japan’s Justice Minister rejected Fischer’s request for asylum and ordered his deportation. Seeking ways to evade deportation to the U.S., Fischer wrote to the government of Iceland January 2005, who sympathetic to Fischer’s plight, but reluctant to grant him the full benefits of citizenship, granted him an alien’s passport. To his last days he was still pointing out missing combinations by his opponents, still haunded by the U.S. government. USG haunded him to the point, that at some point he even wrote introductory letters to Osama Bin Laden. He originally had a urinary tract blockage but refused surgery or medication and died in Iceland. Ironically, even if he bitterly opposed the way the Russians used chess as a means of propaganda, his 1972 widely followed contest with the Russian Boris Spassky was promoted by Western Media as “the clash between freedom and repression”.

the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Havana with a degree in Hispanic philology and a specialty in contemporary Latin American literature. Her thesis was titled Words Under Pressure. A Study of the Literature of Dictatorship in Latin America. Sanchez says that by the end of her university studies: “I understood two things: the first, that the world of intellectualism and high culture disgusted me and the saddest, that I no longer wanted to be a philologist.”[6]. Sánchez decided to emigrate to Switzerland, where she was eventually joined by her son and husband. Two years later she decided to return to Cuba “for a two-week family visit” on a round-trip ticket, and by destroying her passport, was able to avoid being forced on a plane back to Switzerland.[6]

After finally resettling in Havana, she founded, together with a group of Cubans – all based on the island – a magazine, “Consenso”, and helped establish the web portal “Desde Cuba” (From Cuba) for reflections and debate. Sánchez abandoned anonymous blogging which provided her with both wide international support and the attention of the Cuban state police (“seguridad del estado”). She reports gang stalking, intimidation and smear campaigns against her and her family. Once, after a call from an agent who identified himself as a police and threatened him, he challenged him to meet him on the streets to discuss the matter and was harassed and attacked by the citizenry while plain clothed police seemed to protect him[]. Sánchez reported being abducted with other three Cuban dissident bloggers and being put in the back seat of a police car with Orlando Luis Pardo Lazo by state security agents one of whom she grabbed from his balls as she tried to fight him off[]

in Hong Kong and with fellow journalist Glenn Greenwald

    after
a wire transfer she sent in 2006 to Riyadh al-Adhadh, the Iraqi medical doctor and Sunni political candidate who was the subject of her 2006 documentary My Country, My Country.[23] After completing My Country, My Country, Poitras claims, “I’ve been placed on the Department of Homeland Security’s watch list” and have been notified by airport security “that my ‘threat rating’ was the highest the Department of Homeland Security assigns”.[24] She says her work has been hampered by constant harassment by border agents during more than three dozen border crossings into and out of the United States. She has been detained for hours and interrogated and agents have seized her computer, cell phone and reporters notes and not returned them for weeks. Once she was threatened with being refused entry back into the United States.[25] In response to a Glenn Greenwald article about this, a group of film directors started a petition to protest the government’s actions against her.[26] In April 2012 Poitras was interviewed about surveillance on Democracy Now![] and called elected leaders’ behavior “shameful”.[27][28]. • Ai Weiwei (艾未未)

has been highly and openly critical of the Chinese Government’s corruption and cover-ups, in particular

    the Sichuan schools corruption scandal
    .

In 2005, Ai was invited to start blogging by the biggest internet platform in China, which he did for four years, turning out a steady stream of scathing social commentary, criticism of government policy, thoughts on art and architecture, as well as autobiographical writings, until his account was shut down. He then turned to Twitter and Instagram, claiming at least eight hours online every day. He supported the Amnesty International petition for the Iranian filmmaker and musician brothers Hossein Rajabian and Mehdi Rajabian.

In 2011, he was arrested at Beijing Capital International Airport and held for 81 days without any official charges which then became a detention on charges of “economic crime”: tax evasion and intentionally destroying accounting documents of a company he controlled.[74]. State media also reports that Ai was granted bail on account of Ai’s “good attitude in confessing his crimes”, willingness to pay back taxes, and his chronic illnesses.[75] According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, he is prohibited from leaving Beijing without permission for one year.[76][77]
Ai’s supporters widely viewed his detention as retaliation for his vocal criticism of the government. Professor Wang Yujin of China University of Political Science and Law stated that the release of Ai on bail shows that the Chinese government could not find any solid evidence of Ai’s alleged “economic crime”.[79] On 24 June 2011, Ai told a Radio Free Asia reporter that he was thankful for the support of the Hong Kong public, and praised Hong Kong’s conscious society. Ai also mentioned that his detention by the Chinese regime was hellish (Chinese: 九死一生), and stressed that he is forbidden to say too much to reporters.[80]. Much social justice and politically active art and movies have been made by and about him.[]

  • Charles Chaplin‘s long filming and artistic career generated worldwide adulation and controversy from the silent film era, to the “talkies” (media he initially resisted), to then Technicolor and widescreen. His deeply poetic, yet, hillarious and unambiguous messages (as kicking an immigration officer in the butt, which Hoover considerd “disrespectful”), rounded by his acting and artistic skills had no par. His depiction of humanity in frontal and subtle ways in an era of slapstick and mechanical story lines moved people to tears.

One of his early screen persona, “the Tramp” became a worldwide icon still recognizable and exploted as a meme a century later.

Chaplin, who considered himself a “peacemonger”, was accused of a being a Jew (he was Roma from his mother’s side, but he refused to clarified if he was Jewish or not) and of “communist sympathies” in times in which Hollywood was not known for being progressive. After arguments with FBI‘s director J. Edgar Hoover who had long been suspicious of his “political leanings”, every opportunity was used to generate negative publicity about him to damage Chaplin’s image and work through smear campaigns, from absurdly using an ancient statute such as the Mann Act, which prohibits the transportation of women across state boundaries for “sexual purposes”, to

subpoena him to appear before the
    House of Un-American Activities Committee

, to being accused of “moral turpitude” [239] declaring him the father of a child for whom he had to pay support until she turned 21, even though blood tests physically indicated otherwise (which his own lawyer refused to bring up!)

and to hiring gangs of perpetrators to outrightly sabotage his movies.

Representative John E. Rankin told Congress in June 1947: “[Chaplin’s] very life in Hollywood is detrimental to the “moral fabric of America”. [If he is deported] … his loathsome pictures can be kept from before the eyes of the American youth. He should be deported and gotten rid of at once.”

He witnessed war crimes against local German civilians: Noncombatants and the elderly were robbed of their meager possessions and women and girls were gang-raped to death by the Soviet military; which he reflected a few years later, in the forced labor camp in his poem “Prussian Nights“. In February 1945, Solzhenitsyn was arrested and accused of anti-Soviet propaganda, for writing on a private letter to a friend derogatory comments about the conduct of the war by Joseph Stalin.

In 1962, “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich” was published in edited form in 1962, with the explicit approval of Nikita Khrushchev.
After Krushchev’s removal in 1964, the cultural climate again became more repressive. In 1965, the KGB had seized some of his papers, including the manuscript of The First Circle.

In August 1971 the KGB allegedly made an attempt to assassinate Solzhenitsyn using an unknown biological agent (most likely ricin) with an experimental gel-based delivery method. The attempt left him seriously ill but was unsuccessful.

In The Gulag Archipelago, Solzhenitsyn wrote, “There is nothing that so assists the awakening of omniscience within us as insistent thoughts about one’s own transgressions, errors, mistakes. After the difficult cycles of such ponderings over many years, whenever I mentioned the heartlessness of our highest-ranking bureaucrats, the cruelty of our executioners, I remember myself in my Captain’s shoulder boards and the forward march of my battery through East Prussia, enshrouded in fire, and I say: ‘So were we any better?'”

  • Ernest Hemingway‘s economical and

    understated style
had a strong influence on 20th-century fiction, while his life of adventure and his public image influenced later generations. Many of his works are considered classics of English literature. He gladly accepted the 1954 Nobel Prize money, but modestly told the press other writers deserved it. Hemingway was a journalist before becoming a novelist working as a cub reporter after leaving high school. In 1918, Hemingway responded to a WWI Red Cross recruitment effort and on his first day in Milan/Italy, he was sent to the scene of a munitions factory explosion, where rescuers retrieved the shredded remains of female workers, which he described in his non-fiction book, Death in the Afternoon: “I remember that after we searched quite thoroughly for the complete dead we collected fragments”. He was only 18 whe he was seriously wounded by mortar fire. Despite his wounds, Hemingway was condecorated for assisting Italian soldiers to safety. He said of the incident: “When you go to war as a boy you have a great illusion of immortality. Other people get killed; not you … Then when you are badly wounded the first time you lose that illusion and you know it can happen to you.” During Spanish Civil War he was among the last journalists who witnessed the last Republican stand. In 1939, he crossed to Cuba in his boat where he with his lady friend bought the winter home “Finca Vigía”. He suspected the FBI had been actively monitoring his movements and indeed, they had opened a file on him during World War II, when he used the “Pilar” (a Spanish girl name) to fish in (to them “patrol”) the waters off Cuba. J. Edgar Hoover had an agent in Havana watch Hemingway during the 1950s.

The FBI knew Hemingway had been admitted, registered under Saviers’ name at the Mayo Clinic where “an aura of secrecy surrounds his treatment”[]. He was treated with electroconvulsive therapy as many as 15 times in December 1960, and in January 1961 was “released in ruins”.[]
In 1959, he bought a house in Ketchum, Idaho, where he killed himself in mid-1961.

  • John Perkins: after being monitored, tested and profiled before he graduated from Boston’s University Business School, the NSA recruits him for “his potential”, encouraging him to get involved in the peace core. While he was having a hard time finding information about countries he was interested in, “Claudine”, who knew all about him, showed at the Boston Public Library and gave him a book with her business card inside on the page containing the information he was looking for. Eventually he authors the partially biographical “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” in which he describes and critizices his role in the colonization of Third World countries on behalf of United States government’s interests.
  • Muhammad Ali: publicly considered himself a conscientious objector, elaborating: “why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go ten thousand miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights?”. He was arrested and his boxing license suspended and stripped of his title. His communications were intercepted by the NSA. In 1971, his Fight of the Century provided cover for an activist group, the Citizens’ Commission to Investigate the FBI, to successfully pull off a burglary at an FBI office in, which exposed the COINTELPRO operations that included illegal spying on activists involved with the civil rights and anti-war movements. One of the COINTELPRO targets was Ali, which included the FBI gaining access to his records as far back as elementary school; one such record mentioned him loving art as a child.
  • The historical Jesus Christ questioned Jewish authorities on the subject of God, was a social activist and was crucified by Roman prefect Pontius Pilate after claiming that he was “witness to the truth”, to which Pilate’s reaction was: (John 18:38) Quid est veritas? (What is truth?)
  • Muhammad: was God’s Messenger (rasūl Allāh) sent to confirm the essential teachings of monotheism preached by Brahamanic religions against idol worship and the polytheism practiced by the local tribes and rulers of the city. Tradition records at great length the persecution and ill-treatment towards Muhammad and his followers (some of which were assassinated for not giving up their faith). The Message (1976 film) epic historical drama chronicling his life.
  • Lech_Wałęsa: Wałęsa and his family were under constant surveillance by the Polish secret police and he was arrested several times for participating in dissident activities. However, long held doubts about his relationship with the secret police have surfaced and been admitted by him.
